A Presidential effort

This news is just a wee bit dated but merits enough significance to write about it  here.

Inspite of battling myriad problems within and outside the US, President Barack Obama has still found time to pen yet another book. This time, its aimed at children.

The book’s cover features, surprisingly, an illustration of his daughters Malia, 12, and Sasha, nine, walking their dog Bo on the cover.

The books is intended as a tribute to 13 American authors, including the first president George Washington and artist Georgia O’Keeffe. Proceeds are intended to go to a scholarship fund for the children of fallen and disabled American soldiers.

Interestingly, this is not the first time a US President has written a book aimed at younger readers.

Jimmy Carter’s ‘The Little Baby Snoogle-Fleejer’ was published in 1995 – more than a decade after he left office. And Theodore Roosevelt collaborated with Henry Cabot Lodge on ‘Hero Tales from American History’ – released in 1895 before he became president.

One wonders if our President has taken notice and intends to pen one at least in continuation of the tradition of her predecessor.
