Well, this is a sad state of affairs. While Technology continues to cause paradigm shifts into many aspects of our lives, there is no guarantee that it will make our life easier or even increase our enjoyment of established pleasures.
Take books and the habit of reading, for instance. While e-books and e-readers continue to proliferate, a study in the US has found that reading as an activity is on the wane in spite of it providing sufficient pleasure to overcome depression!!
The study states that:
Teenagers who devote more time to reading books are far less likely to suffer from depression than their peers who listen to music.
“…. reading was associated with less likelihood of depression. This is worth emphasising because overall in the US, reading books is decreasing, while nearly all other forms of media use are increasing,”
